Mildred is finished ......................and SOLD

SOLD

I am pleased to introduce you to Mildred. She is fashioned and hand carved from the inspiration of the early 1680's Queen Anne dolls that were carved by William Higgs.

She is just over 20" tall and fully jointed.
Her clothes are all hand sewn and made by me from Antique Silks and Cottons. She has layers of clothing and underclothing. Her fabulous cap is made from a very early baby bonnet that I cut down and made for Mildred. She is also wearing her silk slippers too.
From her waist hangs an embroidered pinball that I made just for her.

14" Hope

SOLD

Meet Hope! She is 14" tall and dressed in antique silk. She is very sweet and to me looks like a very young lady about 12 or 13, the same age as my daughter.
She is fully jointed and hand carved from basswood that grows on our acreage. Her eyes are antique black glass pupiless eyes and are slightly down-turned. She has dotted eyebrows just as her sisters from 300 years ago. Hope has a sweet little smile.
She is wearing a tiny chatelaine that I made just for her and it is clipped to her hand stitched apron so she can help around the castle!

Now I see that I have a photo in here with Carolina holding Coral?? Not sure how that happened. If you would like more photos of baby Joy, just let me know and I can email some.

Family photo......

Yesterday I had the presence of mind to take a photo of a group of my finished dolls so you could see the sizes and variation in them. I had this group ready for a wonderful visit with Lynn Murray (renowned doll collector and UFDC past president, and mostly a wonderful friend) and her friend Samy Odin of the fabulous doll museum in Paris France, along with Lynn's sister Anne and their other wonderful friend Janet. We had a lovely afternoon and then an great dinner and even better conversation! It was most encouraging to me to have this knowledgeable doll group come for a visit and meet my ladies.
I have put some photos of the group on here tonight for you to see. Now that the visit is over, these are the dolls that are now available for sale (except the small one on the far right, she left today for Alaska!)
ALL OF THESE DOLLS ARE NOW SOLD.
Enjoy!
Thank you again to Lynn, Samy, Anne and Janet.

Her clothes are all made of early antique fabrics and trims and her bodice is made of silk and metallic trim that I have hand stitched together and lined.
Her clothes are removable, just in case she gets a wardrobe at a later date.
Margaret also is wearing a chatelaine that I made for her as well.
Her slippers are silk and her wonderful cap is from a piece of early Ayrshire from England.

22" Libby is finally finished....(SOLD)

SOLD

This lady is huge! She is 22" tall and as you see in the photos, much larger than Anna and Belle, her two similar sisters.
She is hand carved from basswood and fully jointed. She would need a good doll stand or chair to sit in.
Her lovely Queen Anne face is very detailed and has antique black pupiless eyes. Her eyelids and eyebrows are fine and dotted just as the early Queen Annes were.
Her 2 pc. dress in all handmade by me from some early French cotton and her skirt has the 2 slits to reach into her matching pockets.......Her petticoat is made from a piece of an early petticoat that I have cut down for her. She has silk slippers that match her outfit, of course. She has a sizable bum-roll that ties in the front under her dress. Libby's dress is just above ankle length in the front and tappers down to floor length in the back.
She is so much lovelier in person than in the photos. I do have lots of photos of her that I took as I was making her, so if you would like to see more, just email me: Toysintheattic@sympatico.ca
or call 705 489-1046
Libby is finished and looking for a home.
Thanks for looking!

Little Anna..........I almost forgot to put her photos on for you to see!

SOLD

This is Anna, in her undergarments.

I have decided to sell Anna just as she is in her undies!
I do get requests to sell my Queen Annes undressed so that the new owners can dress them. Here is one that needs clothes if anyone is interested.
She is fully jointed and has the sweetest face with big black glass antique eyes and dotted eyebrows. Her sister, Belle, is in the background and all dressed. Anna is envious!
Let me know if you would like more photos or information about Anna or any of the other dolls for sale at this time.

Miss Erma Higgs!!

SOLD

Here we have the lovely Miss Erma Higgs. She measures about 20" tall and is fully jointed and hand carved from basswood. She is in the style of the early William Higgs dolls from about 1680.
I am so pleased with how she turned out and I hope she gets a good home. Her clothes are made of early linen and wool overshot fabric that I have been saving for just the right Queen Anne doll. Lucky Erma!
She has an antique cotton petticoat and bum-roll so her dress, which is longer in the back than in the front, stands out nicely on her wooden hips! Her pocket, which I know should be on this inside of her skirt, is made of a morsel of very old crewel work that I had here. Erma has decided to wear her pocket on the outside of her dress just to show it off. You could un-tie it and slip it up under her skirt, but what fun would that be!
She sits or stands well.
If you would like more photos of Erma or any of her younger sisters that are here and complete and ready for sale, just email me at toysintheattic@sympatico.ca and I will be happy to answer any questions or send more photos of any of the completed dolls that I have at the moment.
Erma is so much more lovely in person than in these photos.

I am cleaning my studio........and not a moment too soon!!!! These wooden ladies are watching me and some are asking if I might get around to finishing them off soon. The answer, of course, is yes..............as soon as I clean up my mess!
Anyone who has a work space will understand this. One can only take so much until it is time to re-organize.
Have a great day,
