16" Camille Higgs, a Circa 1680's Hand Carved English Wooden Doll.................SOLD

I am so thrilled to share with you, Camilla Higgs.  She is just  over 16" tall and fully jointed.  She is hand carved by me from wood that grows here on our 200 acres.  She is made from Basswood and is jointed and the hips and knees and has had carved wooden hands and lower arms and Linen upper arms just as the old dolls of her type did.  She is wearing kid leather fingerless mittens.  Her petticoat is simple but made from really early cotton with wonderful patina.  Camilla's gown is very special and made from early 1700's silk that is a wonderful shade of blue and has a tiny bit of pink, yellow and some great tarnished silver threads to  the pattern as well...............to die for!  Her slippers are silk of course.
Her cap is made from some amazing early lace that I bought from the UK a long while back. Her head swivels so she can be posed.  She has attitude!
Oh, I almost forgot to mention her Chatelaine with the hand made antique silk pinball that I specially made for her!
If you would like more photos or have questions just email me:  babesfromthewoods@gmail.com
Enjoy!

This is when I was working on her......

Great patina!

This photo is very true to the colouring of her Antique silk gown

13 1/2" Maribel Higgs, Hand Carved Wooden Doll in 1680's Style.............SOLD

Meet Maribel Higgs!
She is 13 1/2" tall and full jointed. (email me if you would like to see photos of her body wonderful body)
Maribel is dressed from head to toe in amazing fabrics from the early 1700's.  He cap and stomacher are made from fragments of hand stitched and embroidered linen/silk with some woven metal in it as well............outstanding!
Her gown is beautifully faded Linen that is a greenish teal shade and the patina on it is truly wonderful.  See the tiny antique ruffles!  Love them.  They are only about 3/8" wide and have the tiniest stitches ever!  Maribel fancies herself as a seamstress of the day.  She has a tiny pair of hinged scissors hanging from her antique apron and on her wrist is a replica of a wrist pincushion.
I am so pleased with Maribel's total look right down to her tiny silk slippers.
If you have questions or would like more photos just email me:  toysintheattic@sympatico.ca

Kathy,
Maribel’s adorable, what a cutie.. she make me smile!! When i saw her headless body i thought OMG and then i remembered you said her head screws on... phew!! Her green linen dress is wonderful, the fabric aged to perfection, just how i like it.  The fabric in the stomacher and her tiny cap is magnificent.. and those tassels.. they are miniscule, how ever did you make them?? The apron and tiny beads, not to mention her silk slippers.. all delightful! Mmmmm she smells so good too lol!!! How tiny is her wrist pincushion..  i love it!!
I’m so happy to add a Higgs doll to my collection.. Maribel’s a little gem, i love her!! You never cease to amaze me, all your dolls are so beautiful. The love for what you do shines through your amazing little creations, each one unique and beautiful!
Thank you so much!! Hugs

CHARLOTTE.....SO FAR....

Must share:
When I went to the PO at 8 this morning there was no parcel card left out for me, so i went and knocked on the back door, (they know me well lol) and told my friendly postman that there should be a parcel for me because I had proof that it had arrived at the Morwell despatch centre. He said there were lots & lots of parcels and it would take in awhile to check, so I  described the size of the box he should look for and he found it within a couple of minutes.. do you think I was excited!!!

So I've just walked in the door with the box under my arm, and before I tear it open (ever so carefully), I like to set the mood. So now I've got classical music playing and my camera ready... so off I go... so excited!!! I’ll be back shortly :))

Kathy, I am speechless!! Charlotte is so beautiful and her trousseau is stunning beyond words. She has such a regal presence, I almost feel I should curtsy.
Kathy, I am in awe of your talent as a doll maker and a seamstress, you have such a keen eye for detail. I have never seen such tiny stitches.. I don’t know how you do it! I LOVE my sweet Lady Charlotte and I am so happy that she has chosen to come and live with me and her new friends, at the treehouse. I can’t wait to introduce her to her new little friends.. I know they’re going to love her!!
Thank you again for everything, I couldn’t be happier :))
Hugs

More to come!
Enjoy

Presenting Nellie an 18" Hand Carved, Fully Jointed, Wooden Queen Anne Doll............SOLD

Nellie is fully jointed with wooden upper arms and linen tied elbow joints.  Nellie is jointed at the hips and knees as well (photos available upon request) and she sits or stands well. She is dressed in the most beautiful shade of faded aqua blue silk damask.  These photos really do not do justice to her colouring.  The lace apron, lace sleeves and lace at her neck and cap are all 1700's hand made lace that is exquisite and has wonderful patina.  Her shoes are also very early embroidered silk.  Her petticoat is antique cotton with the tiniest of hand stitched pin tucks (photos available up request).
She comes complete with bum roll that makes her silk gown sit perfectly on her hips.  Her gown is very full and drapes beautifully.  Do scroll down and see all the photos and close ups of her face!
Nellie is looking for a good home.  I have posted a lot of photos of her trying to capture he elegant look and the wonderful patina on her face and clothing.  If you have questions or would like more photos of Nellie just email me:  toysintheattic@sympatico.ca
