This is Lady Louise. She is only 11 1/2" tall. Small but mighty! She is so much nicer than these photos.....ugh! I have had a terrible time trying to get good photos of her and these are the best of them.
Trust me, she is so much nicer in person.
She is dressed in very very early silk/cotton velvet that is so nicely worn in all the right places. Her trim is very early naturally tarnished metallic trims that I have been saving for just the right Lady. She is fully hand carved and has jointed hips. Lady Louise wears tiny silk shoes. She is a 1680's William Higgs type doll with the patches of the period. She must have really had some issues going on on her face to have so many! Poor lady.
I am very pleased with her and I hope you enjoy the photos..............such as they are!

Here is the first doll for 2012! She was actually started late last year but she got set aside during the holiday festivities. In between working on some other dolls here I thought I should get her finished some photos on here for you to see.
Meet Margie. She is 11 1/2" tall and fully dressed in antique silks and has an antique metallic stomacher. She loves her flat silk hat that matches her dress and her handbag. She has wonderful tiny silk shoes to match her gown.
Margie has antique black pupiless eyes and a very sweet face with just the perfect amount of aging to her face and the patina is so much nicer than in these photos. Click on any photo to make it larger.

I have a new favorite doll!!! Margie arrived today and I love her. She is such a great size and I love her proportions. I actually love everything about her……the clothes are wonderful. She has such a nice color combination and because the fabric is not patterned the trim and bodice look so nice. Her hat and handbag and shoes…..what can I say….it is love. I also really love her dark eyes and sweet expression. Thank you Kathy for another wonderful doll, maybe the “wonderfulest” (as my grandson Gabe used to say) one yet. I am really, really happy with her.

Lady Margaret is finished and SOLD. I just LOVE this doll. Her body is fully jointed. Her 2pc gown is made of very early fine Linen with the most wonderful Jacobean print that is nicely faded and slightly worn in spots, adding to her charm. Love her silk slippers......and so does she!
Lady Margaret has a really wonderful face with just the right amount of wear and patina for a doll that looks like she is from 1730 or so. She is totally hand carved from basswood that grows here on our 200 acres.....so yes, she was born in Canada, although she is a pretty good replica of and Early English Wooden Queen Anne style doll. Her eyes are antique black glass pupiless. Look at those tiny hand stitched ruffles......to die for!

I looked at her every time I picked it up because I thought she was truly the most beautiful doll I had ever seen. I didn't act then because I really only ever buy antique dolls, never reproduction artist dolls, but your dolls are different and I have to say your are not just a "doll" artist you are a true Artisan from the heart taking form and shape to a new over the top level....I received "Lady Margaret" today and I am Blown away! The pictures were fabulous but couldn't do the justice to the life that you gave her! From her incredibly detailed silk cap with the antique lace, her lovely polished cotton day dress to her tiny little silk slippers I couldn't fathom all the tiny hand stitching! I have just finished dressing 24" Georgina. She is a hand carved reproduction Early English Queen Anne style doll from about 1740 or so.
The fabric that I used for her dress is 18th century cotton with the original hem in it and tiny wonderful mends from a couple of centuries ago! I wish I had more but this is it.
Georgina is so much nicer in person that these photos. She has a wool/silk paisley shawl as well and her tiny silk slippers too. Her bonnet is reduced off of an 18th century hand stitched bonnet that I had here and was able to reduce it for her.
She is an amazing doll with great bulging antique glass eyes with a downward cast.

Leigh is hand carved and fully jointed. She is actually the sister to Beatrice, I just did not get them finished in time to stand with the huge Anne doll.
Leigh is 14" tall and dressed in old small scale Jacobean print Cotton/Linen. Her petticoat is very plain and simple......just like her.
She has handmade silk shoes and a really wonderful early cap that I made from an 18th century baby bonnet.

I had to take some time out of my busy day to let you know that Leigh arrived today….that was fast!!!!! I can hardly think of the words to let you know how much I love this doll. I love everything about her, but let me be specific. I love her size and proportions. I love the colors in her dress, stockings and shoes, and on the patina of her face. I love her hat, her hair, her eyes and the way her face is painted. I already said I loved her shoes and stockings, but I love them so I’ll say it again. I think she may be the favorite doll I have ever owned. At the risk of making you gag from my gushing I will send this along. I am already planning on a “sister” doll for Leigh. I could not resist! When the creative juices were flowing this morning I though I had to finish this petite wooden Queen Anne with antique black glass eyes off into a weighted pin cushion.
She is such a sweet little lady. Her dress is very early faded cotton and she is completely hand stitched by me. She is hand carved and would love to sit in your sewing room or amongst some doll friends.

This hand carved wooden doll started out to be Anne's Daughter. Anne is the 24" wooden doll that I put on my site a couple of days ago. She is available if you scroll down you will see her.
Here is Beatrice, the 14" wooden that I have just finished. She looks like a young lady.....maybe 12 or 13 years of age.

Growing up with a twin brother, and mostly boys to play with, I was
never really interested in dolls. My recent discovery of your Izannah
Walker style dolls and then the English wooden dolls certainly changed
all of that! I knew that some day, I wanted to own one of your
beautiful creations.
When I saw Beatrice's face...I knew she was the one! Seeing her in
person, holding her and feeling the weight of the wood, the exquisite
details of her face, hair and clothing is pure delight. I still can't
get over the perfectly crafted, tiny shoes and stockings!
She truly is a work of art and a joy to behold. Be assured, Beatrice
will be loved and treasured for many years to come.

24" Anne.......the wooden English Queen Anne that I am working on.....(SOLD)

Here are just a few photos of what I have been working on day and night.
She is 24", once she has her legs finished............soon.
Every morsel of her antique silk clothing is hand stitched. The stitches on the fine ruffles on her neck and sleeves are so tiny you can almost not see them!
Her petticoat is so wonderful that it should not be covered up. She holds her silk slippers in hopes that she soon has legs and can slip them on!
Anne has such a sweet but shy face and her bonnet is made from 18th century silk lace and embroidered silk from the same period.

I do not usually name my Izannah Walker reproductions but this one I called Matilda Walker. She is 20" tall and her 3 pieces of undergarments are antique ones and her claret dress is handmade by me from antique calico cotton from about 1875.
She also has a three tone blue dress, from equally as old calico, that fits her as well so she can be purchased in either dress or both.
She has 5 ringlets across the back of her head and quite worn paint at the front, just as my original antique Izannah has. The cracks that you see on her face are the same as on my original old Izannah. I love that worn and loved look!
Matilda is now sold.

Her underclothes are all made by me from some antique pieces and her dress is also made by me from some really early fine cotton calico. I do have 4 other dresses here that fit her as well if browns are not your favourite. She just happens to love browns.......me too!

I just finished this 16" Izannah Walker reproduction doll. She is #1 from my new smaller mold taken off the "very worn" old Izannah that I own. She has 5 ringlets across the back of her head and she is so sweet!!

The 18 1/2" Izannah in Blue is SOLD.

There are 2 other dresses handmade from antique calico fabrics finished here that will fit her as well if you would like a change of clothes for her or a different dress than the one she is wearing. Good things to come..............for those who have been waiting!!

As you can see, not much new on my site for a while.
But...............................soon there will be some dolls to look at again.
I have had to take some time to take care of some skin cancer treatments (now finished) and it made it impossible for me to be in my studio and around dust, old fabrics and sawdust.
I am good to get back to work now and my studio has all been painted and remodelled while I was told to keep out of the dust.
Not to sit with idle hands, I have been hand sewing in the house and now have a bunch of Izannah dresses finished for some future Izannahs.................17 to be exact!

She is not a Queen Anne but she is a hand carved wooden doll with antique glass eyes. She is 22" tall and here name is Hattie. A perfect name for her and chosen by young lady that has a talent for picking just the right name for a doll.

She is a hard doll to get a photo of with out some flash on her face but she really does not have a shine to her at all. I did my best!

A new Sliver Sister is emerging............

She loves the 17" of snow that we just had dumped on us!
The snow fall means that I was shut in and finally dressed her. Poor thing has been naked since May.
She is 9" tall, hand carved from basswood and jointed. Her gown is hand stitched by me and made of 18th century silk.
I just thought I would share her with you. She is enough to make anyone smile on this wintry day!! SOLD

This Lovely wooden lady is Mary. She is 25" tall, fully jointed and all hand carved from basswood that grew on our property. She has antique black glass eyes and really wonderful patina which I am hoping you can see in the photos. Click any photo to make it larger and then click again for a full screen close up. I have not had a wooden doll available on my site for a while now.
If you have been waiting, here is a 21" William Higgs 1680's style English Wooden doll, here she is. Her name is Paulina Higgs.
She is fully dressed in antique fabrics. Her gown is made from a wonderful piece of silk amberline fabric that I have been saving just for this type of doll. She has silk slippers to match as well and a silk stomacher. Paulina's cap is made of silk and rayon antique trims that really compliments her 2 pc. gown.

I just finished this Izannah Walker doll today. She is 19" tall and all dressed in layers of antique clothing and undergarments. She is very sweet and has a nice worn played with face that is molded off of my original Izannah Walker doll that I love so much. Both of these dolls are SOLD but I have finished painted heads ready to make a couple of more Izannahs if you are interested.

These siblings have just been adopted and are moving to GA tomorrow.
The boy is 19" tall and wearing bloomers, an undershirt and a boy dress that is typical of about 1860, and the girl is just over 20" long and wears 3 pieces of underclothes and her dress of course. I have been playing around with Izannah bonnets as well as you can see. They are so much nicer in person that in these photos. The photo of the back of the head looks shinny but it is just the flash from my camera.

Here she is! This is the only Izannah Walker doll that I have available right now that is finished. She is 19" tall and has 3 pieces of underclothes, her dress, and an apron all made of antique fabrics.
She has a very sweet face and lots of wisps and curls in her painted hair.
Because she is molded off of one of my old Izannah Walker dolls she has all the wear to her face just like on my old one, including the wear on her nose and forehead and shows a bit of the under stuffing showing through as well.
She is so much nicer in person. My flash washed her face and detail out a bit in these photos. If you would like to see some better photos just let me know.

Yes, it is true. I have purchased a second antique Izannah Walker doll and made a mold off of the original head so that I can reproduce yet another Izannah for more people to enjoy. This one has a very sweet face and a slightly turned head. Any wear that you see on the face was also on the original doll that I bought reproduced.
She is larger than the first one and measures 21" tall. Her smaller sister was 19" tall.
This one also comes with 3 pieces of underclothes and a dress all made from antique fabrics.

Well, what an adventure this has been. After much encouragement from a dear friend, to actually agreeing to try one and then buying an old Izannah for study, to actually attempting to make one.............................Here she is, finished.
I always said that I only wanted to make Izannah dolls if they looked old and loved and this one does.
She is exact from my old one from the tip of her shoes to the top of her head. She is 19" tall, just like my old one. The ageing and painting is just as my old one would have been if she had more paint left on her! Stitching those hands and fingers was a chore and my hat is off to Izannah Walker, she had patience!
I have made her bloomers, petticoat, chemise and dress all from antique fabrics and antique clothing. She is exactly made as the old ones were with the exception that I took an actual mold off of my old Izannah so that she would truly look like an old one right down to the worn face, stockinette showing and worn spots with the old stuffing showing under the stockinette.
I am very pleased with her and she shall have sisters in the future. My passion is the early English Queen Anne woodens, but these Izannahs present a challenge that I am up for and enjoying as well.

My day started with a homemade card and a tissue paper rose from my loving son and a computerized sticky note from my computer savvy daughter! It is the world that we live in, but it all means the same.....Love.
Then I looked out the window to see Snow, yes in May!!!

I managed to get Clare Higgs finished and some photos taken so you can see her. She is now available for sale.
Clare is 18" tall and fully jointed. She is dressed in some very early hand woven wool paisley and has her matching pocket on too (I am aware that paisley is not early enough for these 1680 style dolls but I love paisley and perhaps she could have been re-dressed much later since original clothes were likely to have deteriorated in 300 years). She is wearing her pocket on the outside so you can see it. Her clothes are all made of antique fabrics and hand stitched from top to bottom. Her hair is sparse and and her cap is made from a wonderful antique piece that I had here for a while just waiting for the perfect doll. Clare is it! She will still get her shoes made as well, maybe even today!
She is totally hand carved from basswood that grows on our 200 acres here in the North.

I have not posted a doll for a bit now. Sorry.
I have been recuperating after some skin cancer surgery, again. I am just finishing up a couple of doll orders and then back to some new Higgs dolls that I have painted but not dressed. There are 3 of them ready for clothes. One will be about 18"(available), one 19" and the largest yet 23" (SOLD). If you are interested in seeing the faces of these dolls just email me and I will send photos. Any of them can be dressed custom at this point or sold undressed if you would like to do the clothes yourself.
Note: there is also a 14" doll with glass eyes that is available as well.......I almost forgot her! (SOLD)

This is Emma Higgs. She is 19" tall and fully jointed. She is in the 1680's style of the the William Higgs dolls from the William and Mary period.
Every stitch on this doll, including her petticoat is all done by hand. Emma's bodice is very early hand stitched embroidery on wool. Her hair is very sparse like her much older sister's. Today she will get a hand made pinball from a waist hook on her skirt.

This 1680's William Higgs style doll is affectionately named Belinda Higgs. She is just over 21" tall and all hand carved from basswood that grew here on our property. She is fully jointed and has that very round Higgs style head with painted eyes and very red cheeks. She has wonderful patina and a very sweet face. Her clothes are all cottons and linens that are antique. Her pocket is all hand stitched embroidery and made just for her. She has a pinball that hangs from her waist hook and an apron with tatters from all the works she does....................ya right!
She is a delightful doll and worthy of a nice place amongst early dolls.
That was quick! Belinda Higgs is sold and moving to Alaska.

It is so beautiful here today and warm that I sat out on the porch and finished off this little hand carved wooden black doll that I had started a while ago. She is just under 11" tall and has jointed hips and glass eyes and tiny carved hands. Love her faded fabric! She is a little more folky than the Queen Anne dolls that I have been doing but she is very sweet. She is much like her Sliver Sisters but she has glass eyes rather than painted eyes.

Lady Pandora for Samy Odin at the Paris France Doll Museum.......

It was my great honour to be asked by Samy Odin to make his doll museum in Paris France, a doll for the most recent exhibit. Samy came to my home and studio last September to see my dolls and have a visit. After returning to France he contacted me and had an idea which he commissioned me to do for his Museedelapoupeeparis.com Fashion doll exhibit. He wanted a doll to represent the earliest of Fashion Pandore's right down to the powdered wig.
I have posted a few photos for you to see. There will be more photos coming from Samy and I will show you the exhibit photos when they are made available to me.
Lady Pandora was about 30" tall and fully jointed. She had layers of clothing and an antique French Toile Gown that I replicated for her.

This group of Sliver Sister dolls are all SOLD.
I thought it would be fun to show you all four of the "Sliver Sisters" finished.
The only one that is still available is the one on the right in the faced floral gown.
They are only 6" tall, not including their long baby gowns and they are jointed at the hips. All of their clothes and bonnets are hand sewn. This was just too much fun.......................but a lot of work.

I had mentioned before that Celia was carved from using the profile of my deplorable Old Queen Anne doll. I just thought I would share some photos of Celia, her un-dressed sister and my original old QA doll so you can see. If my Old Queen Anne from about 1760 or so had her gesso and paint still on her face she would be the type of doll like Celia and her sister.
My poor old doll has no arms or legs or paint but I love her anyway. If only she could talk!

She is 14" tall and fully jointed. She has such a sweet but serious little face. Her head is about the size of a small lime. Maud's eyes are antique black pupiless glass eyes and her hair, although sparse, is peeking out of her hand made lace cap. The antique fabric I used for her dress is a fabulous paisley (my favorite!). She has a wide bum-roll that makes her hips quite wide on either side and her gown falls perfectly to her side. (look at the mess on my table!)

Olive, Mildred's sister is all dressed now.....

Olive was naked for a couple of weeks and getting chilly here in the north, so I dressed her. She is in very old fabrics and a hand quilted petticoat. All of her clothing is hand stitched. Her slippers are silk. Olive is fully jointed and all hand carved from basswood that grows on our 200 acres of bush.

Here is the Huge Nettie doll that I have been putting off dressing. I loved her in her underclothes sitting in my kitchen window, but, in all fairness, she really did need clothes!

These are not the most flatering photos of her in my kitchen..........but she looks so good in our red kitchen!

She is all hand carved from basswood and if she were old, she would be from around 1720-1740 in style and clothing. Her clothing is all hand stitched and made from antique fabrics. She has layers of clothing that include a chemise, petticoat, quilted petticoat, over-skirt, and a bodice/corset to match. Her pinball waist hook has a pair of scissors in a shaft, a silk pinball and a secret key! Her cap is made from a fabulous early baby cap that I cut down to fit her huge head. Her eyes are antique black pupiless eyes and slightly turned down. Nettie's eyebrows and eye lids are dotted with tiny dots just like her ancient sister's were. Her face is very serene and her patina would pass for old. She is delightful! If you are interested in a huge Queen Anne doll, she is wonderful. I am pleased to introduce you to Mildred. She is fashioned and hand carved from the inspiration of the early 1680's Queen Anne dolls that were carved by William Higgs.

She is just over 20" tall and fully jointed.

Her clothes are all hand sewn and made by me from Antique Silks and Cottons. She has layers of clothing and underclothing. Her fabulous cap is made from a very early baby bonnet that I cut down and made for Mildred. She is also wearing her silk slippers too.

From her waist hangs an embroidered pinball that I made just for her.

14" Hope

Meet Hope! She is 14" tall and dressed in antique silk. She is very sweet and to me looks like a very young lady about 12 or 13, the same age as my daughter.

She is fully jointed and hand carved from basswood that grows on our acreage. Her eyes are antique black glass pupiless eyes and are slightly down-turned. She has dotted eyebrows just as her sisters from 300 years ago. Hope has a sweet little smile.
She is wearing a tiny chatelaine that I made just for her and it is clipped to her hand stitched apron so she can help around the castle!

Yes, I have just completed baby Joy. She is 14" long plus her long handmade gown.

She is dressed in antique cotton fabric and lace from head to toe and has an antique cotton chemise under her gown too. Joy is jointed at the hips but has straight legs that are hand carved but do not bend at the knee.
She has antique black glass eyes like the others I have done recently but she is a baby. She looks wonderful held by Carolina, the 28" doll that I finished off last week. Carolina is available at this time for sale. CAROLINA IS NOW SOLD. The baby is SOLD.
Now I see that I have a photo in here with Carolina holding Coral?? Not sure how that happened. If you would like more photos of baby Joy, just let me know and I can email some.

She is full jointed and hand carved from Basswood that grew here on our 200 acres of bush. Her eyes are antique black pupiless glass, and her hair is human hair.

All of her clothing is hand made of antique fabrics and parts of antique clothing that I have collected to dress my dolls.
From her waist hangs a pinball and tiny scissors and keys. Her pocket is made from a scrap of very early hand stitched crewel that I had left over from another doll's skirt. Carolina's shoes are silk, as is her hand stitched corset/stomacher.

Here she is!

Another huge Queen Anne, finely carved and fully jointed. She is an amazing doll in every detail. Click on any photo to see a full screen photo of Fanny.

I have lots of photos of Fanny in the making if you wish to see more.

Her petticoat is all hand quilted and stitched, as is her stomacher and chemise. She has a second petticoat that is all bordered with hand stitched candlewicking.

Her waist hook has a small pair of scissors, a hanging perfume and a key...................for something secret I am sure. Her pocket hangs at her waist. All of her clothing is removable should someone want to undress her or make her a wardrobe. She is such a wonderful size to sew for.

Meet Hannah.
This is the largest English Queen Anne that I have carved so far. She is 27" tall and was so fun to dress.
She is fully jointed and has hinged elbows.....a real challenge!
Hannah has down turned antique black glass eyes and double dotted eyebrows.
She is truly as lady, from her lace cap to her silk slippers and totally dressed in antique fabrics and laces.
She is delightful.

Yesterday I had the presence of mind to take a photo of a group of my finished dolls so you could see the sizes and variation in them. I had this group ready for a wonderful visit with Lynn Murray (renowned doll collector and UFDC past president, and mostly a wonderful friend) and her friend Samy Odin of the fabulous doll museum in Paris France, along with Lynn's sister Anne and their other wonderful friend Janet. We had a lovely afternoon and then an great dinner and even better conversation! It was most encouraging to me to have this knowledgeable doll group come for a visit and meet my ladies.

I have put some photos of the group on here tonight for you to see. Now that the visit is over, these are the dolls that are now available for sale (except the small one on the far right, she left today for Alaska!)

Margaret Higgs..........19" tall

I am pleased to show you Margaret Higgs. She is a large Queen Anne style doll carved from basswood and measuring just over 19" tall. She is fully jointed and has painted eyes in the style of the early 1680 Higgs dolls.

Her clothes are all made of early antique fabrics and trims and her bodice is made of silk and metallic trim that I have hand stitched together and lined.
Her clothes are removable, just in case she gets a wardrobe at a later date.
Margaret also is wearing a chatelaine that I made for her as well.
Her slippers are silk and her wonderful cap is from a piece of early Ayrshire from England.

22" Libby is finally finished....(SOLD)

This lady is huge! She is 22" tall and as you see in the photos, much larger than Anna and Belle, her two similar sisters.

She is hand carved from basswood and fully jointed. She would need a good doll stand or chair to sit in.

Her lovely Queen Anne face is very detailed and has antique black pupiless eyes. Her eyelids and eyebrows are fine and dotted just as the early Queen Annes were.

Her 2 pc. dress in all handmade by me from some early French cotton and her skirt has the 2 slits to reach into her matching pockets.......Her petticoat is made from a piece of an early petticoat that I have cut down for her. She has silk slippers that match her outfit, of course. She has a sizable bum-roll that ties in the front under her dress. Libby's dress is just above ankle length in the front and tappers down to floor length in the back.
